Donna Fish, L.C.S.W.-R., is a licensed clinical social worker based in Manhattan, where she runs a private practice. Ms. Fish has been an adjunct faculty member of Columbia University School of Social Work, and she has been a guest lecturer at Harvard Medical School’s Dept. of Eating Disorders, NYU School of Social Work, Mount Sinai Hospital Dept. of Psychiatry and Bellevue Hospital’s Dept. of Social Work and Psychiatry. Ms. Fish has conducted staff training in the prevention of childhood eating problems to New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services Head Start program, The Child Advocacy Services of Manhattan, and multiple Webinars on the subject for mental health professionals. She has been a presenter at Renfrew Center’s Annual Conference on Eating Disorders and was the keynote speaker for the Minnesota School Boards’ Annual Convention.
After graduating summa cum laude from McGill University in Montreal, Ms. Fish pursued a professional dance career that spanned 8 years in Toronto and New York City. She returned to the Columbia University School of Social Work and graduated with honors, continuing in postgraduate training that has included certification the Center for Study of Anorexia and Bulimia, EMDR, and Level 4 TEAM CBT Certification, with voluntary Faculty at Stanford University in collaboration with the Feeling Good Institute of California.
Ms. Fish co-wrote the script and was the on-camera spokesperson for a show on anxiety disorders produced for LIFETIME TELEVISION. She was the expert for a show on body image on National Public Radio’s ‘The Infinite Mind’, and she has been interviewed for the parenting column of the CBC Radio, Canada. With the publication of her book: Take the Fight out of Food: How to Prevent and Solve Your Child’s Eating Problems, Ms. Fish has been interviewed for many publications, including Better Homes and Gardens, Parenting, In Touch Weekly, ParentGuide News, First for Women, Today’s Parent, USA Today, USA Weekend. Interviews on multiple radio shows include NPR’s show ‘A Chef’s Table’ on WHYY, NYC’s 1010 WINS, NYC’s 106.7 lite FM’s current affairs show, as well as many national newspapers.
Television appearances have included the WEEKEND TODAY SHOW, FOX NEWS CHANNEL, and MSNBC.
Ms. Fish has served as a consultant at the School of American Ballet, Steps Dance School in NYC, the Actors Fund of NYC, The Juilliard School and the Dance Dept. of NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she consults and presents a workshop entitled: “Mental Fitness: How to Survive and Thrive in the Dance World.”
Ms. Fish currently serves on the Faculty of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Center for Study of Anorexia and Bulimia’s Post Graduate Training Program, where she teaches and supervises candidates and she conducts workshops on Preventing and Solving Eating Problems for Columbia University’s School of Social Work Alumni Conferences. Additionally she is part of an international faculty who trained therapists in Poland at the recent European Conference on TEAM CBT Therapy, and she will also be part of the faculty for the upcoming Mexico City TEAM CBT Conference.
She continues to run training workshops throughout the world on Eating Disorders.
